Episode 14: An Emphasis on Fashion

Here at the Break the Huddle show we talk about basketball, particularly the NBA — and even more particularly, the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Sometimes we go a little off-topic, let us know if this becomes an issue.

Episode 14 isn’t the first time we’ve talked fashion on the show. A Friend of the Program, Patrick Fenelon, joined us in an earlier episode and informed us – live – that he was wearing, “Larry Bird Socks.” This is true, he was, and to prove this I’m showing you this tweet from Fenelon himself.

See, I’ve already gone somewhat off-task. Last night we discussed mid-season awards, if you missed the show; download the podcast using iTunes, or watch the live video below.

In short — we reviewed the week, fantasized about drinking champaign and shared our favorite – and least favorite – NBA jerseys. There was also mention of the Toronto Raptors camouflage “Military Night in Canada,” edition jerseys. What do you think of them?

We thought, collectively, that the Raptors have room for improvement on these jerseys. They made John dizzy and gave him a headache.

Our favorites were as follows:

  • Billy — Phoenix Suns! ALL OF THEM.

  • John — “Denver Nuggets, yellow jerseys, no sleeves, with the mountains across them. I love them!”

  • Zach — Desert Camo Spurs

And for our least favorites

  • Billy — (Note, he was the only Co-Host to pick TWO) the Los Angeles Clippers’ baby-blue sleeved jerseys AND the Oklahoma City Thunder’s alternate uniforms.

Fun fact: Turns out the baby-blue atrocities were inspired by the attire worn by Clippers players back in 1978. Back then the team had yet to move to Los Angeles and resided in San Diego. If you’re interesting in reading an article about the Clippers uniforms in history, click this link.

  • John — “Chicago Bulls sleeved jerseys they wore on XMAS with just the bulls logo on the front. They were super baggy and looked terrible!”

Zach — I went with a loyalists view on this one, Billy’s favorites (Suns) were my least favorite. I prefer the apparel Phoenix wore in the 90’s.

In Episode 13, we had fun tearing down the Sacramento Kings on placing most of their best players on other teams, in better situations. This time around, much like we have before, we strayed a little off course of our usual focus — the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Be sure to join us next week from 6-7PM (CST). We’ll talk Wolves, the NBA, and probably – like many times before – get a little off-topic, but not too far.
